The Castle of Illusion game has six levels, which are represented by six worlds. Mickey needs to collect seven gems and complete goals on each stage to unlock new stages. These goals correspond to the game's 6 worlds: The Storm, Dessert Factory, Toyland, The Enchanted Forest and The Library.
Mickey's quest to collect gems often brings him into conflict with Mizrabels henchmen. These adversaries typically include poison mushrooms, toy soldiers and steel knights. In addition to injuring the character when in contact with them, in some cases Mickey must restart a particular level.
